I've downloaded the latest version of both tools but only Backup and Sync seems to work. My documents and files are all on drive D, Google Drive directory included. I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled both apps in different orders and different ways to try to get around the problem, even deleting my whole Google Drive directory from local storage. The authorization was deemed successful, though. Drive File System (now Google Drive for desktop) greeted me with the error above, after prompting me to authorize it on a Google Chrome instance. May, 2021, restarted Backup and Sync for whatever reason, resynced my personal account. From then on I was solely using Google Drive FS for my personal and professional accounts both.

Paused and finally disabled Backup and Sync from starting up with the system on December, 2020. Installed Drive File Stream on October, 2020 for a professional account. Used Backup and Sync for years with my personal account, local files on D drive. My local files and documents are on the HDD D: drive.ĭefault Microsoft Defender (Windows Security) antivirus.Ĭhrome Beta Version.

Windows 10 (Version 3 Build 19043) laptop installed on a SSD C: drive. For the past days whenever I boot my system and Google Drive for desktop is loaded at startup, I'm prompted to authorize the app on Chrome just to encounter this error popup.
